Thinking outside of the box....bringing in adult clothing!

So we needed to start thinking outside of the box. This economy is hard on us small businesses and we WILL NOT close our doors. So we have decided to sublease a small part of our store. We are bringing in THE DRESSING ROOM!
Natalie is new to this business, but has such great spirit and a true eye. We think this will go great with our current children's boutique. We are making sure it will all flow. Starting the first week in February, we will be carring adult womens clothing!!!! We can now say that we are a one stop shop. Bring your daughter and come have a true shopping experiance here at TEAPOT!
Isn't this cute!~

Tap Tap Tap...making a Coin Ring

A friend of mine inspired me to make a coin ring. She said her father made her one long ago and I just had to try it myself. I guess it supposed to be easy...

Soldiers long ago, when board, used to tap away at coins that were made out of 95% silver *pre 1964*. They would tap the edges with a spoon over and over and over, until they produced a silver coin ring. If they can do it with a spoon then I sure as heck can do it with a hammar and drill!

So I went and found some quarters at a local coin shop and decided to give it a try. First I started taping with a hammer (much easier then a spoon!). Soon they sides were smooth and round. Then I drilled out the middle. Unfortunately my drill and my dremmal ran out of juice so they are charging right now.. here is a picture of my process.
I started with a quarter and then decided that I should make one out of a half dollar for my love. His birthday is coming up so I thought this was a nice sentimental gift :)

Let me know if you try it, how it works for you!!

I have the kids....

So Kayse is at work....and I have the girls..wont she be surprised to see what they have been up too!  They told me they are scary princesses.

Soaking in the sun...warmed our toes...now back to work!

We are back! We enjoyed an amazing time in Mexico. Holbox was a peaceful island that allowed us all to wash our worries away and relax.
Kelsey ran the store perfectly, she brought in money that we needed and when I arrived on Monday found the store in clean, neat order. We are so blessed to have her in our lives!!
It's fun being back at work. Yes, I loved being away, but I love interacting with everybody as well. I love being at the store, productive, placing orders, rearranging and being a part of the community of shops in Historic Railroad Sq.

Just to let you all know a little incite into how we are doing.........

We are hanging in there by the skin of our teeth. It is hard, as you all know to run a store in this economic crisis. We are trying to get inventive with how to keep the money coming in, so that in return we can place more orders, as well as pay ourselves (a feat we have yet to achieve!). But with your added support we are going to try to make it! We have too, we want too, we MUST! Our lease comes up for renewal in a couple months, can you believe we have been in this location for a year? We have tried to negotiate the conditions of the lease in some ways, but to no avail. So we will just cross our fingers and hope that we can make it all work.

We are thinking of some new ways of bringing in the money, for one would be to bring in Adult clothing as well. We are in the talks of subleasing to a woman that does very well with her clothing and it would flow with our children's lines. This way moms and daughters would be able to shop together! We also had the idea of bringing in a children's shoe store into 1/3 of the store but....we have yet to get a response for that posting.

I am so excited, because people are hearing about us down in LA...that must be a sign that we need to stay going!!! I am going to take it as that, at least :)
